We’re Deakin University’s preferred pathway provider, with guaranteed entry into the second year of a bachelor degree.
Deakin College is your direct path to Deakin University. We deliver a positive and nurturing student experience that supports the transition to second year bachelor studies at the University. Through innovative teaching and engagement with digital learning technologies, we’ll prepare you to make the leap to university studies and thrive in your future career.
We’re located across three Deakin University campuses in Victoria, Australia – Melbourne Burwood Campus, Geelong Waurn Ponds Campus and Geelong Waterfront Campus.
Our courses offer you an alternative pathway to university in popular areas of study such as Health Sciences, Business, Information Technology and more.
Our Foundation Program, for international students, is equivalent to Year 12 and prepares you for entry into first year university degree studies.
Our diploma programs are equivalent to first year university. Each diploma consists of eight academic units, which you must complete and pass to receive the diploma. Most units have four hours of class per week. Assessment for all units is continuous and includes tests, assignments and case study analysis, and most units have a final two hour examination.
We purposely keep our class sizes small so your voice can be heard and your needs met. With a maximum of 30 students in Diploma classes and 25 in Foundation classes, our teachers are able to give the best possible support and attention to each individual student.
On-campus classes run between 9am and 6pm on weekdays (Melbourne time). Most units run as 1 x 2-hour lecture and 1 x 2-hour tutorial each week. You can also expect between 4-6 hours of private study per unit, per week.
Online study is only available to domestic students in some diploma programs. Recorded content, classroom notes, readings, activities and assessments are available online, to be accessed at any time. An optional one-hour live online session is held each week for every unit, and you are strongly encouraged to attend.
